Total alkalinity measurement using an open‐source platform

نویسندگان

چکیده

Total alkalinity is a pivotal water quality parameter dictating the response of natural waters to acid–base system perturbations such as ocean acidification and acid mine drainage. Its value biogeochemical ecological variable enhanced not just by high measurement quality, but also accessibility. This research demonstrates an instrument that advances accessibility high-precision, high-accuracy total using open-source, low-cost instrumentation. Repeated testing samples from Lake Superior demonstrated precision (standard deviation or SD) 3.0 μmol kg−1. Analysis standards reference materials uncertainty 5.3 kg−1 well robustness freshwater saltwater matrices. adds wealth inorganic carbon technologies in marine lacustrine settings stands enhance ability both communities generate accurate accessible measurements alkalinity.

Total Alkalinity of Surface Waters-A National Map

This map illustrates the regional patterns of mean annual alkalinity of surface water in the conterminous United States. As such, it affords a qualitative graphic overview to the sensitivity of surface waters to acidification. The map is based on data from approximately 2,500 streams and lakes and apparent spatial correlations between these data and macrowatershed characteristics, especially la...

Opensource Floating Point Adder

This is an open source floating point adder designed by Justin Schauer as a summer research project at Harvey Mudd College for Dr. David Harris. It was designed to fully conform to the IEEE 754 standard. In its fully-featured format, this adder supports all rounding modes: round to nearest even, round to plus infinity, round to minus infinity, and round to zero; it supports denormalized numbers...

An application of Measurement error evaluation using latent class analysis

‎Latent class analysis (LCA) is a method of evaluating non sampling errors‎, ‎especially measurement error in categorical data‎. ‎Biemer (2011) introduced four latent class modeling approaches‎: ‎probability model parameterization‎, ‎log linear model‎, ‎modified path model‎, ‎and graphical model using path diagrams‎. ‎These models are interchangeable‎. ‎Latent class probability models express l...

Measurement of radium micro-precipitates using alpha spectrometry and total alpha counting methods

Background: This study consists of two parts. The first part deals with both qualitative and quantitative analysis of 226Ra using alpha spectrometry measurement method. In the second part, the percentage of radioactive equilibrium between 226 Ra and its daughter products were determined by alpha spectrometry and total alpha measurement system after elapsed time of 15 days from precipitation. Ma...

An Opensource Visual Environment for Discrete Event Simulation: Deos

Simulation modeling provides a powerful tool for the study and analysis of actual production systems. Basically, the first step in any simulation process is the formulation of the simulation model. The model should include the description of the main system components. Since simulation is widely used in various application areas, several simulation packages are available on the software market....
